Activists Celebrate Anniversary of Occupy DC(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Activists commemorated the one-year anniversary of Occupy DC last weekend with marches, actions, teach-ins and music. On Saturday, activists from Occupy Our Homes DC, a group that grew out of Occupy DC, “foreclosed” eleven Bank of America buildings, demanding the bank stop its foreclosure on the home of DC Reverend Michael Vanzant. Local activists were joined by others from across the country over the weekend as they gathered in Freedom Plaza for trainings and marched throughout downtown DC, protesting outside the Chamber of Commerce, numerous lobbying firms, and other corporate entities. Actions continue this week; check occupydc.org for more information.
