(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Anyone interested in running for political office will want to sign up for the September 29 "Run To Win! 2014 and Beyond" daylong workshop. The “comprehensive training camp for men and women who wish to take their community service to another level” is presented by the African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County, MD (AADCMC), in partnership with the Montgomery County Education Association, the Young Democrats of Montgomery County, and Progressive Maryland. Area unions MCGEO 1994 and MCEA “are sending some of their folks in,” says AADCMC President Saschane Stephenson, “ and we want the other unions and activists in the field to know that they can and should start preparing now to run for office in 2014.” Breakout sessions run by trainers from Wellstone, New Organizing Institute, the DNC, and Progressive Majority include Fundraising, Campaign Management, Messaging & Communications and Voter Contact.  A special session will be offered for women candidates by Emerge Maryland.  Speakers include Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, Metro Labor Council President Joslyn Williams and Montgomery County Councilmember Craig Rice.
