NoVA Election Efforts Expanding(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With less than two months to go, NoVA Labor President Dan Duncan says he’s “amazed at the wonderful number of volunteers donating their time and efforts” to the NoVA Labor-to-Labor election efforts. Duncan gave special shout-outs to IUPAT Council 51 “for their excellent showing on September 8,” Vance Ayres of the DC Building Trades “for organizing walks in Fredericksburg” and the Alliance for Retired Americans “which handled phones on September 12.” Walks in Northern Virginia continue every Saturday as well as in Fredericksburg (contact Vance Ayres at 240-533-7625 for details).  For those looking to help in ways other than walks or phonebanking, Dolores Gerber “desperately needs help” with pre-walk prep and post-walk scanning; call her at 703-750-3633. Most importantly to those who have tried his eye-popping brew, Duncan pledges to keep not making the coffee for the Saturday walks “as long as our volunteer numbers increase each week!” - photo: at last Saturday's NoVA Labor Walk; photo by Julie Hunter
