NoVA Launches Labor Walks in Battle for VA Vote(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Even more than four years ago, Northern Virginia is in play in November’s Presidential election, making labor turnout critical this year. NoVA Labor kicks off their 2012 Labor-to-Labor precinct walks this Saturday, August 25, at the NoVA Labor office (4536-B John Marr Drive, Annandale). Doors will open at 9 am, and “Dolores has promised that I will not make the coffee,” says NoVA President Dan Duncan, “but we’ll have pastries and bagels to help get you started and we’ll have lunch when you return.” Click here for details, including a flyer you can download and distribute to your members. “Virginia is perhaps the key state for both the presidential and senatorial races,” says Duncan. “Have your walking shoes ready as this promises to be a very busy and important fall!” The walks continue on Saturday, September 8, break for the annual NoVA Labor Day picnic and run through Election Day on November 6.
