Nurses, Allies say "We Can End AIDS" with "Robin Hood" Tax

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Nurses, Allies say (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)National Nurses United (NNU) will take to the streets today with tens of thousands of activists, drawing attention to the need for funding for AIDS treatment. NNU will join activists from Health GAP, VOCAL-NY, ACT UP, National People’s Action, and more for the “Robin Hood Tax” march at noon to join a large-scale “We Can End AIDS" rally at 1p. The march is part of NNU’s ongoing Robin Hood Tax campaign (“Nurses and Allies Demand ‘Robin Hood’ Tax,” UC 6/20/2012) calling for a 0.5% tax on Wall Street financial transactions that could, says Health GAP Managing Director Jennifer Flynn, generate “funding [for] AIDS treatment, prevention and healthcare… and address a host of problems both here in the U.S. and abroad.”
