DC Council Tables Woodson Nomination

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The DC City Council voted 8-4 yesterday to table the nomination of Roderic L. Woodson to the DC Water Board of Directors. Marion Barry and Jim Graham joined Jack Evans, Kenyan McDuffie, Tommy Wells, Michael Brown, Vincent Orange and Interim Chair Phil Mendelson in the vote, while Yvette Alexander, David Catania, Mary Cheh and Muriel Bowser voted against tabling the nomination. Woodson’s anti-labor positions had galvanized the local labor community and the vote was widely seen as a key test of the Council’s commitment to DC residents and workers.
