DC City Workers Give High Marks to grade.DC.Gov

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)City workers want their agencies to serve the public better. That’s why DC
government unions participated in the launch of DC’s new website grade.DC.Gov last week. The website –
introduced by the Mayor’s office – gives District residents the chance to
offer direct feedback on city agencies including the DMV, DDOT, DPW, the
Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and the Department of Parks and
Recreation. AFGE Local 2725 and Council 211 President Eric Bunn called the site
“an opportunity for DC Government unions to work closely with management on
initiatives that impact city services.” Recent disputes between local
government and public sector unions over issues like furloughs (Workers
Win in Council Votes on Furloughs, Annual Leave, Healthcare and Immigration,
UC 6/6/12) demonstrate the importance of including unions in discussions
of actions that affect DC workers, said Bunn. “Our members are dynamic public
servants with a commitment to serve the District of Columbia,” added AFGE
District 14 Vice President Dwight Bowman. -
