OPEIU 2's Virginia Rodino gets CCBC Student Achievement Award(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Virginia Rodino (right), Chief Steward for OPEIU Local 2 at SEIU headquarters in Washington, received the 2012 Student Achievement Award for the Labor Studies Program at the May 10 Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) banquet. “Virginia received the award for completing almost all of the courses in the program and for her ability to apply any course work to her activities, both as a communications specialist for the SEIU in nationwide campaigns and also in her determined work as a union officer,” says CCBC Director of Labor Studies Bill Barry. “The most significant achievement is that Virginia is now a regular guest speaker at the courses she once took.” photo: Rodino’s co-worker and OPEIU union steward Amanda Burdine (left in photo) -- who won the same award two years ago -- presents the award to Rodino. photo courtesy Bill Barry
