Maryland COPE Report: State Fed to Rally Against "Doomsday Budget"
Thursday, May 10, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With the threat of up to 500 layoffs, slashes of $200 million from education,
$22 million from health care, and $21 million from public safety, the Maryland
State and DC AFL-CIO is calling on the state's political leaders to stop the
“doomsday budget” in Maryland. AFSCME Maryland is taking the lead, asking
local labor to take action – by contacting legislators – and take to the
streets with a Doomsday,
No Way! rally at the Maryland State House. The rally will be held just
outside of a “special session” of the Assembly in Annapolis on May 14; for
more information or to RSVP contact AFSCME Maryland at info@afscmemd.org or 410-837-3055.
