DC City Council Fails to Repay DC Public Workers

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Yesterday afternoon the DC City Council failed to act to repay DC public workers unnecessarily furloughed in 2011. Six councilmembers – Phil Mendelson, Michael Brown, Muriel Bowser, Mary Cheh, David Catania, and Marion Barry – voted against the supplemental budget. “These councilmembers have got to recognize that actions have consequences” warned Metro Council President Jos Williams. “I commend the actions of our friends on the Council – Jim Graham, Jack Evans, Tommy Wells, Yvette Alexander, Vincent Orange, and Kwame Brown – who stood with us to repay these workers.”
