May Day 2012 Preview

Day – offers metro DC activists plenty of
ways to celebrate. Here are a few highlights of
the upcoming May 1st events:
Celebrate Working
Women Across the Globe
The
AFL-CIO, LCLAA , CLUW and Solidarity Center
host a brown bag discussion of working women
featuring solidarity messages from labor
movements in Cambodia, Mexico, Nigeria and
Peru
Democracy
and An Economy for All: From Protests to
Strategies for Change
ILRF, the
Institute for Policy Studies, Jobs with
Justice, the Communication Workers of America
and others bring together labor rights
activists from the US and abroad to discuss
cutting-edge labor-rights work and develop new
strategies to bolster the drive for jobs with
justice and an economy that works for all
2012 May Day
Festival
DC activists come
together for May Day carnival games, live
music, theater, workshops and picnicking
followed by a bike tour, rally, and march to
Lafayette Square to highlight the long history
of the struggle for workers' rights in America
and around the world
