Workers Memorial Day Honors First Responders & Public Employees

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)To help mark Workers Memorial Day, the National Labor College (NLC)
is hosting an afternoon
of activities
open to the public this Friday, April 27. In addition to honoring the
workers who die each year, this year’s program will pay special tribute to
first responders and public employees, who play critical roles in creating safe
and healthy workplaces and communities. Highlights include a Symposium from
1:15-2:45p featuring Peg Seminario, AFL-CIO Director of Safety and Health,
Joseph McCartin, Associate Professor of History at Georgetown University, Jacob
Remes, Assistant Professor of Public Affairs at Empire State College, and
Daniel Katz, Dean of Labor Studies at the NLC. The
Workers Memorial Day Ceremony follows, from 3-3:45p at
the NLC
Workers Memorial.
