American Jobs on the Line at T-Mobile

American Jobs on the Line at T-Mobile(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)When it’s American jobs on the line, T-Mobile keeps dropping the call. Last month, the telecomm giant announced plans to close seven major call centers nationwide, which would cost 3,300 American jobs, on top of hundreds already lost because of T-Mobile’s downsizing and another 6,000 outsourced to the Philippines and Honduras. The AFL-CIO has launched a campaign to urge T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm to keep T-Mobile’s U.S. call centers open and bring back thousands of family-sustaining jobs. The AFL-CIO will deliver the letters next week at the T-Mobile headquarters in Washington State. “Dedicated service professionals whom T-Mobile customers count on—folks from Thornton, Colo., to Brownsville, Texas—will lose their jobs on June 22 if this plan goes forward,” says the AFL-CIO. “But if enough of us stand together and raise our voices, we can force the company to reconsider.” Click here to make your voice heard. - photo of CWA members protesting T-Mobile courtesy of CWA
