Labor FilmFest Partners with 2012 FilmFest DC(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The DC LaborFilmFest is a Community Partner for two films screening at this year’s 26th annual Washington, DC International Film Festival: Brothers on the Line and Blood in the Mobile. In Brothers on the Line – which screens on Tuesday, April 17 – director Sascha Reuther explores the life and work of the legendary Reuther brothers Walter, Roy and Victor (Sascha’s grandfather), who battled to win labor and civil rights as founders of the United Auto Workers union. Blood in the Mobile – screening April 18 and 20 – shows how mobile phone users are complicit in the exploitation of Congolese children who mine the mineral cassiterite, used in virtually every handset on the planet. Both films are part of FilmFest DC’s Justice Matters series exploring social issues. Advance tickets are on sale now and tend to sell out quickly.
