UFCW 400 Releases Hip-Hop Video(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“Fight for the side that’s right /grocery workers unite /join us!” raps local hip-hop artist Head-Roc in the infectiously bouncy music video UFCW Local 400 Anthem, released at Tuesday’s Giant and Safeway contract votes. "We hope this music video will draw the attention of the younger membership in a fun and innovative way while at the same time teaching them about the labor movement's history and what being in a union is all about," said Local 400 President Tom McNutt, who appears in the video, along with dozens of Local 400 members and their families from West Virginia, Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. “United Food and Commercial Workers/Arms locked on the job so the boss can’t hurt us/United we stand,” raps Head-Roc, “Divided we don’t stand a chance/Welcome aboard, we can help with your circumstance.” The video – the first of its kind for Local 400 – was written and produced by Vance “Head-Roc” Levy with the help of his music mentor, Dwayne Lee. - screenshot from music video
