"Pregnant" Verizon Workers Protest; Faith Support for Giant/Safeway Workers; "Stand Up to Corporate Greed"

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Call it the Thursday Trifecta, with three Streetheat actions scheduled for tomorrow across metro DC: starting at 7a in Silver Spring, CWA 2108  kicks off the day with an early-morning picket featuring “pregnant” protestors telling Verizon “it’s time to DELIVER a fair contract” after nine long months without a contract; then at 12:30P in West Hyattsville, members of the faith community stand with UFCW 400 members and neighbors in the fight for fair contracts at Giant and Safeway; finally, at 4p, CWA activists and friends will march from Verizon's lobbying office in downtown DC over to the Verizon Center to "Stand Up to Corporate Greed."
