Labor On The Move: Elise Bryant Wins UALE "Lifetime Achievement" Award

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Local labor activist Elise Bryant (in blue
shirt and white hat) has been selected the winner of the "Lifetime
Achievement" award by the United Association of Labor Educators (UALE). "It was
an honor to be nominated and I am deeply grateful to my colleagues in UALE for
this recognition of my work as an educator," said an elated Bryant. Bryant
recently retired after 15 years as a professor of labor studies at the National
Labor College; she’s also the director and founder of the DC Labor Chorus and
is in the process of creating a new organization, the ELISE Consortium –
education, leadership, inspiration, solidarity, and excellence – “a
partnership focused on leadership training for labor and community activists to
build a stronger bridge between organized labor and the progressive community
