Library of Congress Guild Supports Martha's Table(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With 18 boxes of children’s books and personal care items in tow, union members at the Library of Congress headed to Martha’s Table this January to support the organization’s impressive community work. Martha’s Table serves over 600,000 meals a year to those in need, while next door Martha’s Outfitters provides free and low-cost clothing, household items, and toiletries to community members. A bustling staff, busy helping families gather warm children’s clothing for the winter welcome Jackie Coleburn (AFSCME 2910), Juanita Betts (AFSCME 2477), and Saul Schniderman (AFSCME 2910) as they arrived with the donations the Library of Congress union members had collected over the holidays. The donations will be given to families in need through Martha’s Outfitters, and help grow the library at Martha’s Table’s accredited Child Development Center. - photo of Jackie Coleburn (2910), Juanita Betts (2477), Ann Haskins-Brookover (Martha's Table), Saul Schniderman (2910) courtesy of AFSCME 2910
