Based on the internationally acclaimed film, Billy Elliot the Musical is set in a small town in the North of England against the background of the historic 1994/95 miners’ strike in England. The show “is a 100% union production,” reports Jess W. Speaker III, Eastern Regional Stage Manager Councillor for Actors’ Equity Association. “All of the musicians are members of AFM, the stagehands members of IATSE, the Directors and Choreographers members of SDC, Designers are members of USA, and the Actors and Stage managers are all part of Actors’ Equity Association.”
